Arthur Murray Dance Center in Whitefish Bay isn’t only a dance studio, it’s a family. For many, it becomes a home away from home. Expert dance instruction, warm community, caring instructors and weekly dance parties are just a few reasons you should come and see for yourself what the Arthur Murray Experience is all about. Our clients come to dance, but they discover so much more.

The Arthur Murray organization has been teaching people to dance for more than a century. With a family of more than 270 studios in 27 countries, we are the largest and longest standing ballroom and social dance organization in the world. We strive for excellence; constantly developing and improving our dance syllabus, our teaching techniques and our business practices. Our Arthur Murray instructors undergo rigorous training in dancing, teaching and customer service, bringing you the best possible learning experience.

Though we are all Arthur Murray, every studio is independently owned and operated, which gives each one its own unique style and personality. At our Whitefish Bay location, we strive to offer the best possible instruction in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to learn in an elegant, comfortable and supportive environment; no matter what their skill level, age, or physical ability.

Although the studio has only been opened for one year, it has been more than seven years in-the-making. Since 2013 we’d searched for an ideal location to bring the Arthur Murray experience to Milwaukee’s North Shore. In 2018, we found that perfect spot. After months of careful design and extreme renovations, that simple space has been transformed into one of the most elegant and charming dance studios found anywhere on the planet. Given the elegant décor and comfortable ambiance, it is also a perfect spot for special events such as family parties, photo shoots, engagement parties and team building events.

The Whitefish Bay studio is a collaboration of four of Arthur Murray's top performers: Ying Cheng, Zach Rosen, Chialing Chang and Bryan Stewart. With a combined 71 years in ballroom and social dance experience, they have come together with the singular goal of creating a truly satisfying and unique dance experience for the citizens of Whitefish Bay and surrounding communities.

Bryan Stewart and Chaling Chang have lived and breathed ballroom dancing together for 24 years. They met in Ballroom Dancing 101 at Southern Illinois University, and were instantly addicted. They competed as amateurs for the next five years and traveled around the country learning everything from Ballroom to Salsa to Argentine Tango. After graduating in 2001, they began their professional dance careers at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Chicagoland. For the next eight years they competed professionally in the American Smooth category. Out of thousands of instructors and executives worldwide, they both consistently made Arthur Murray International’s Top 20 Performers lists. In 2009, they opened the Arthur Murray Dance Center of Lincolnshire. With Ying and Zach’s help, the Lincolnshire studio became a Top 5 school out of 270 Arthur Murray Studios around the world.

In 2010, Bryan and Chia-ling welcomed their daughter, Viola, to the Arthur Murray family. Now nearly 10 years old, Viola spends her days loving school, playing with the chess club, and dancing her heart out at the studios. With three ballroom competitions under her belt and multiple other dance events and performances, she is a perfect example of how ballroom dancing can help shape children in positive ways. Her dancing experiences have built a level of confidence and maturity rarely found in children her age. When she was six years old, Chialing once asked her what her family’s last name was. She quickly replied “Arthur Murray!”.

Ying Cheng stared her dance career as a competitive student at the Arthur Murray Studio in downtown Chicago. As she finished her degree in fashion design at the Chicago Art Institute, she spent most of her free time dancing. Passionate about helping people through dance, she began teaching professionally in Lincolnshire in 2009. Loved by students and revered by instructors, she was a symbol of excellence in all things Arthur Murray. For the next 10 years she achieved many honors, including regular appearances on Arthur Murray’s Top 20 lists and making the Arthur Murray “All Stars” team five times. She eventually became Arthur Murray Lincolnshire’s Team Leader, helping lead the studio to some of its highest achievements.

Zach Rosen, after graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in accounting, started as a student in 2011, but quickly transitioned to an instructor. His background as a competitive Jr. Olympics Gymnast, combined with his passion and talent for technique and nuance, propelled him quickly in his dancing. Zach and Ying began competing together professionally in 2013. After years of hard work and dedication, they became staple finalists in the Open Professional division of American Rhythm. They were married in October of 2018, and soon welcomed Violet, their own adorable future dancer, into the Arthur Murray family in August of 2019.

Having recently become Whitefish Bay residents, Ying and Zach have fallen in love with their new community. They’ve experienced warm welcomes and ample support from every resident they’ve met, and they are honored to be part of the Merchants of Whitefish Bay. With this dynamic and caring couple in the studio, every student experiences spectacular service on every visit, from staff and owners alike.

We are so happy to share and continue this story of love and dancing that started so many years ago. Every day brings new blessings, new challenges and new learning experiences for us all. We are so thankful for the opportunity to change people’s lives through dancing, and for the family and community we’ve found here in Whitefish Bay. Come and see for yourself how dancing can change your life!
